Today we’re talking about something simple but very important which is the difference between monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels.

You need to first understand that both Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline panels do the same job which is to take sunlight and turn it into electricity.

They’re both good options for your home, but understanding the differences helps you make the best choice.

Let’s start with Monocrystalline panels.

▪️These are made from a single, pure silicon crystal.

Because of this,

▪️They are more efficient.

▪️They perform better in heat. It works very efficiently in high temperatures.

▪️They have a sleek uniform black look.

▪️They are more expensive.

▪️ Monocrystalline panels lasts around 20–40 years.

Now let’s talk about Polycrystalline panels.

▪️These are made by melting multiple silicon fragments together.

▪️They have a bluish appearance.

▪️They are slightly less efficient and they don’t handle heat as well as monocrystalline panels, it drops a bit of it’s performance.

▪️They cost less. It is budget friendly.

▪️ Polycrystalline panels lasts around 20–35 years.

When we talk about their efficiency;

Monocrystalline panels gives you more power in less space because you only need a few panels. Polycrystalline panels gives you less power, so you may need more panels.

So now you know that both panels are great, but your choice depends on your roof space, your budget and of course your energy needs.
